Here’s the talk from Steubenville San Diego 2014 that inspired the instagram/hashtag “challenge” I proposed at the last Boom Sizzle:
Basically, the idea is for us to take photos of ordinary things in our daily lives (don’t even have to be explicitly religious things) that remind us that God is with us and working in our lives, that remind us of His joy, peace, goodness, love. Then we can post them and use the hashtag #GodworksWM to share about God in our lives
Excited to see how God works in your lives!
For those of you who don’t know of Gene Yang, he, along with Hank Lee, are the founders of Watermark. And some of you may be aware that over the last few years Gene has been the writer for the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics.
But more recently…
– Gene has been nominated for 2 Eisner Awards!
The Eisner Award is basically the “Oscar” of the comics world. And Gene has been nominated for two! One for his most recent graphic novel, The Shadown Hero, which is about the first Asian American superhero, and one for his work on the Avatar: The Last Airbender comics and The Shadow Hero.
– Gene has been brought on by DC Comics to be the new writer of the Superman comics!
And as proof, here is a photo of Gene credited as the writer in the Superman story given out on Free Comic Book Day this past Saturday, 5/2:
CRAZY, right? Exciting to see a Watermarker go on to such big and fun things!
Walk for Life is coming up next Saturday (1/24)! Here are the event details:

Also, if you plan on going to Boom Sizzle that night, know that there will be an option to get dinner together near St. Clare’s after Walk for Life. However, you’ll have to plan your own way to get from Fremont to church.
Don’t miss out on this opportunity to gather with thousands to learn about and walk for the value of human life! See you there!
